CVS and Target shopping trips

I did the Coke deal at CVS yesterday. However it didn't work as planned. I purchased 5 12-packs. But it would only except 3 coupons. Not sure why but the cashier was not going to do anything about it and just said it will only take 3. I wasn't going to push it. So I ended up paying $18.00 and got back $10 ECBs.... so it was still a good deal of $1.60 per pack. And I still have 2 more coupons to use later.

I had an awful time at Target yesterday... that is why I just didn't feel like pushing the CVS deal. The cashier lowered all my coupons down to the total of the items so that I did not have any overage. Okay, I understand the meaning behind that, however she didn't mark any of them and I am sure that when Taget sends them to the manufacturers they will be getting full credit. And the thing that pushed me over the edge was that they wouldn't except the $2 off 2 coupon for the Purell trial size even though there is no size limit on the coupon.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you would do.... Should I call both CVS and Target? Or should I just forget about it and move on.... I am still kinda new at this and would appreciate any feedback.

Lollipop Cookies

If you are looking for something to make to bring to school for your child's birthday other than cupcakes these are excellent. The recipe is in the October 2007 issue of Martha Stewart's Everyday Food but can be found on her website.... CLICK HERE. The only things that I would suggest to change about the recipe is to make the cookies smaller than what they suggest. They spread and make huge cookies and to cook them for a shorter amount of time. Just when the edges turn golden take them out otherwise they are not chewy. After they cooled I used the standard, cheapest sandwich bags to wrap them in.

They made them for Halloween but you can change up the colors of the sprinkles for whatever holiday or your child's favorite colors for their birthday. They were a huge hit at school and really easy to make. One of the teachers actually asked me where I bought them... to me that is a huge compliment!

Here is a fun project that my daughter and I do every now and then and save them for wrapping baked goods or presents.... I get some white gift boxes and have her finger paint them. They are great.... just fill and put a bow on them, no need to wrap. So here are the cookies packaged up in one of her boxes.

Making the Bread!

nancy silverton's bread 3

Wow! This could quite possibly be the best bread I have ever had... for sure the best I have ever made. This recipe comes from Nancy Silverton's Breads cook book.

This recipe is one of the basic starter breads in the book. Since I haven't had much success in the past with bread making I decided to start with the basic recipe first. Well it was a success, nice crusty outside and a airy inside.... perfect! I cannot wait to move onto more of the artisan breads. I also would like to learn how to do the fancy swirls on the bread pictured in the book..... Next time.

The moral of bread baking.... If I can do it, any one can!

Winn Dixie - Publix Trick

I live in an area where a Winn Dixie is right around the corner. However from day one I never liked shopping there. Our Publix is about 20 minutes away. So I have learned a little coupon trick with the two of them. We always run out of random things, milk, cereal, etc... So instead of hiking it to Publix I run over to Winn Dixie. Every time I use the self check out there I it prints a $10 of $100 coupon and other great coupons on products I normally buy. These are great coupons to take to Publix since they take competitor coupons.

Send Expired Coupons to Our Troops

A couple months ago when I was checking out at Publix I stood behind a woman that told me she had "a lot" of coupons and that if I wanted to go to another check to avoid standing there a while I should. Well I had nothing else to do and was fine standing there and watching her. Well I witnessed her spend $40 for over $250 worth of groceries. Let just say she inspired me! So at that moment I decided to join the "crazy coupon lady club". Well so far so good, although I have not saved that much I have been saving about 1/3 of my grocery bill with a little planning and coupons.

I have also discovered some amazing websites that do most of the work for you, I am going to attempt my first Walgreens and CVS savings today, I'll post my results later. Anyway.... it has been so much fun seeing what I can buy and how much I can save.

So I cleaned out my coupon binder this past Sunday and have bunch of coupons that have expired. So what so do with them? Well I found this site.... You can send the expired coupons to our troops and their families overseas. They can use expired coupons for up to 6 months AFTER they have expired! What a great way to help them out with saving money and keep the paper out of our landfill. For the price of a little time and a little money (postage) you can send coupons overseas and make a world of difference for people that are making a difference for you!

Please let me know if you either do it or if you plan too!
